Authors Should Be Alert

Azam Posht Mashhadi Muhammadi is one of the authors of the Holy Defense and was born in 1981. So far, she has written 23 books, including "People Do not Die in My Frame" and "Windbreakers Are Waiting".

* When did you start writing in the field of holy defense?

I was a journalist at the age of 13, and at the age of 19, I managed to obtain a journalism degree. I always had a sense of curiosity about those who participated in the war and I wanted to know how these people are different from other people.

At the same time, I studied in the research branch of social sciences, and the same sense of curiosity made me pursue this work; The most important reason was the continuous and related connection with different social spaces such as the martyrs' department.

I started writing memoirs in 2002 and took notes from the memories of martyrs and soldiers. The first book published by me was the memoirs of the martyrs of Hormozgan province.

* How did the field of social science research help you in this regard?

Although this field is not directly related to my job right now, the characteristics and knowledge that a researcher in social, cultural, and psychological fields needs to investigate society made me take a better path.

* How much of the book "People Don't Die in My Frame" is based on memoir and how much is based on oral history?

The most important part of my work is documenting. As you know, memory is the engagement of a social and historical event with human emotions, and oral history is a major part of a time slice.

This book is about the memories of a man during the war, based on human experiences. The memories are narrated from the perspective of people who lived with the main character and has 24 narrators. The interviews and information were collected by the Chronicles of Victory and they handed this work to me in 2015.

* How did you select and analyze the information?

In writing a book, the most important feature was documenting the topic. The author should be alert and accept the narrative and information that is closer to the original story. The important thing is that the person who narrates the memory was either present at the event or at least heard it from a reliable source.

* Are you currently writing or publishing a new book?

Yes, I have several books I am working on; The biography of one of the martyrs of Hormozgan province named Musa Ebrahimi, which will be published by Fatehan Publishing House, and another work that I am rewriting is the memories of martyr Ahmad Khoramishad, one of the commanders of 27th Mohammad Rasulullah Division.
